Meet Our Team: Sarah Golan
Sarah Golan, Executive Search Consultant
HOW LONG HAVE YOU WORKED AT GILMAN PARTNERS?
WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT WORKING AT GILMAN PARTNERS?
I love adding value to our clients, creating relationships, connecting people together, and helping our candidates further their careers; but what I really love most about Gilman Partners is our culture and the people who work here. We are a family and a team.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO GILMAN PARTNERS?
When I was still in college and trying to find a job, Michele and Jeff graciously met with me and talked about how they maneuvered through their careers in HR and how they found their way to Gilman Partners. They gave me advice on how to network within the Cincinnati community and how to navigate starting my own career. After I spent a year and a half with a professional staffing firm, they reached back out about joining their team. I knew I was joining a company that wanted what was best for me and that I was going to learn from a variety of successful business professionals.
WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR MORE CHALLENGING AND/OR REWARDING PLACEMENTS WHILE AT GILMAN PARTNERS?
I love the work our Non-profit Leadership Practice does. We invest a lot of time and effort building relationships with each client’s board/search committee to understand their mission, what their current challenges are, where they want to be as an organization in the next 1,3,5,10+ years, and what characteristics they are looking for in their next leader.
IN WHICH AREAS OF RECRUITING DO YOU SPECIALIZE?
I have extensive experience with searches in non-profit, professional services, operations, and human resources. In addition, I support the partners/senior search consultants and business development team, using a variety of sourcing methods to identify qualified candidates.
IF YOU COULD GIVE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE TO COMPANIES LOOKING TO HIRE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Understand your culture and educate yourself about the talent marketplace. Knowing your culture and the talent market will allow you to develop the “nice to haves” vs. the “must haves.” This will help you know when you've found a good candidate and what a strong offer should be.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
I'm an extremely active and competitive person and I grew up playing and competing in sports. I love to run and compete in both half and full marathons. I completed Cincinnati's Flying Pig Marathon and Half Marathon, Indianapolis' Monumental Half Marathon. I’m training for Cincinnati's Queen Bee Half Marathon this October and am already looking into other races! I also play soccer, sand volleyball, kickball, and flag football with the Cincinnati Sports Leagues. When I'm not being active, you can find me cooking in the kitchen, playing with my dog at the dog park, hanging out with friends and family, or reading a good book.
WHAT BOOK ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING THAT YOU CAN’T PUT DOWN?
I love a good murder mystery book. I am currently reading The Good Girl by Mary Kubica.
