  • The role of the Director of Finance requires a professional who can lead strategic financial planning as well as an accomplished technician who can manage the daily operational activities of the financial services function

Since 1992, the mission of Wesley Community Services has been to deliver essential services that promote the independence of seniors so they may remain in the comfort of their own homes for as long as possible. 

Today’s services include, provided by of team of just over 100 employees:

  • Meals on Wheels
  • Independent Living Assistance
  • Senior Transportation
  • Pet Portions PetKare 

Over the last 15 years, Wesley has grown from providing 53,000 meals to 150 Cincinnati Westside seniors to delivering 497,000 meals a year to over 2,800 individuals in 10 counties in Ohio and Kentucky.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Finance and Accounting Operations
    • Establish and maintain accounting systems, procedures and policies for organization
    • Supervise and manage a financial staff of three professionals
    • Ensure the completion of all financial audits and the fulfillment of external reporting requirements to maintain compliance
    • Oversee all financial software and systems to ensure compatibility and combined reporting of all entities within the organization
  • Budgeting and Strategic Planning
    • Oversee the budgeting process and periodic forecast, establishing targets and working with line management to achieve objectives
    • Direct cash management and utilize cash flows projections to assess cash needs
  • Board and Senior Leadership Communication
    • Advise senior staff and Board of Trustees on financial matters
    • Consult with and advise Investment Committee of the Board
    • Provide financial reports, as required, to senior staff and Board of Trustees, assessing the organization’s financial position
    • Work closely with senior management in developing and fostering strong business alliances with financial institutions
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director up to and including participation and attendance at organization events

THE KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee financial and accounting responsibilities
  • Proficiency in financial planning and analysis
  • Experience and proven ability to both lead and participate in a strategic planning process
  • Enthusiasm for results-oriented performance
  • Strong team management skills, and a desire for creating a management environment centered on continuous improvement in all areas of operation
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with all constituents, as well as co-workers throughout the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration

Preferred but not required:

  • CPA
  • Significant, progressive and successful experience in a similar position within a service based not-for-profit organization
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit reporting requirements
  • Healthcare accounting experience, preferably in continuing care retirement, with knowledge of major reimbursement programs, cost reporting, and the methods of which financial performance is maximized
