JOB SUMMARY: 

The Director of Operations is the Operations and Supply Chain leader for this mid market company and reports directly to the President. The Director helps shape and guide strategy and will be a key individual in setting culture for the overall company. The Director will have overall management responsibility for all the company’s manufacturing, quality, EHS, Inventory and Supply Chain functions. This is a 24/7 operation with 300+ employees. The right candidate will have a proven success record of strong leadership and change management. 

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Safety

  • Drive improvements in Safety and ensure the development of Safety awareness at all levels in the organization
  • Ensure that the plant operates in a safe and sustainable manner and build a culture of continuous improvement in these areas

Quality

  • Implement and maintain Continuous Improvement methods; this will mean that processes associated with LEAN, Six Sigma, 5S, (others) will be the norm for all areas of plant operations and customer output
  • Lead and ensure the ongoing development of flexible, cost-effective, high quality, high service manufacturing operations
  • Recognize potential issues, evaluate and communicate risks and perform analyses to evaluate options for corrective actions

Cost

  • Participate in product line rationalization and simplification discussions
  • Develop, and review budgets throughout the manufacturing operations

Delivery

  • Emphasize and drive on-time delivery results to meet or exceed delivery goals
  • Partner with product development teams to ensure the right technology and processes are in place to support new products and to drive seamless product launches
  • Build relationships with key customers and with the company’s Sales & Marketing Team
  • Develop metrics to measure and report all KPIs and ensure that plant personnel understand these KPIs and the behavior that helps to meet performance objectives
  • Create strong ties with other Business Areas and Global Services to meet overall business objectives 

Capability

  • Support the overall facility manufacturing strategy, including capacity planning, make versus buy decisions, the technical development of manufacturing processes and establishment of cost, quality and delivery targets
  • The Director will have overall responsibility for the plants’ operation and will be tasked with building high-performing teams and delivering world class products
  • Develop robust processes and leverage processes to be productive

  • Utilize strong leadership skills to drive culture and process improvements in all areas of the operation
  • Recruit, train, and motivate the best personnel to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth in alignment with the existing corporate culture
  • Drive performance management and talent development to create a high-performance culture
  • Build strong employee relations with open communication, consistent application of policies and procedures and empowerment of all personnel 

 

IDEAL CANDIDATES’ QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven success at positively influencing across a matrix organization
  • Sets clear goals and metrics utilizing rigorous logic and methodologies
  • Proven track record of Operations Excellence implementation, shifting culture and driving organizations to succeed
  • Have strong communication and people skills within the team and across the company as well as with customers and other outside entities. Listen with the intention of being informed, influenced, and moved
  • Have a good understanding of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or other high-performance management systems to drive business improvement
  • Deal effectively with high pressure and crisis situations
  • Have excellent project management skills and the ability to organize and manage large complex projects and multiple priorities;
  • Have solid financial acumen
  • BS, Engineering, Operations or Business-related field
  • MBA or other master’s a plus
