Our client is SuppliesOutlet.com (“SuppliesOutlet”; suppliesoutlet.com), a private equity-backed online retailer of aftermarket imaging supplies and accessories, including laser printer toner cartridges, ink cartridges, and other products and peripherals.  SuppliesOutlet intends to grow rapidly through acquisition and deeper organic penetration of the online marketplace.

SuppliesOutlet was acquired by Blackford Capital (“Blackford”; blackfordcapital.com) in 2018.  Headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, Blackford invests in companies with EBITDA of $2 - $20mm and has significant experience in the imaging supplies industry through prior investments. 


Position Overview:

SuppliesOutlet seeks a dynamic President to lead a current team of 12 responsible for digital marketing, customer service and e-commerce across all channels, notably paid media and third-party marketplaces.  The President will develop and execute a digital marketing strategy to optimize ROAS and maximize e-commerce EBITDA.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the company’s e-commerce strategic plan to drive profitable customer acquisition across multiple channels including paid media, 3rd party marketplaces, display and affiliate using search marketing (SEO/SEM) best practices
  • Provide effective leadership to the SuppliesOutlet team and assess, recruit, develop and integrate talent needed to maximize its value
  • Assess digital and e-commerce capabilities of acquisition targets; effectively integrate and leverage talent and technology assets of acquired companies
  • Provide digital analytics leadership – keenly focus on existing digital KPIs (e.g. CAC and LTV) and, as necessary, develop additional metrics to further measure ROAS and MROI
  • Lead business planning, content and promotional strategy, website design and analytics
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new e-commerce functionality and solutions
  • Oversee:
    • All online operations including the listing of all current and future products in 3rd including SKU and UPC management with Brand Registry
    • PPC and affiliate marketing initiatives, event coordination and promotions such as Amazon Deal of the Day, Prime Day, Black Friday, etc.
    • Performance of e-commerce partners including site design, site maintenance and service level agreements, online advertising campaigns, and reputation management

 

IDEAL CANDIDATES’ QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant major (MBA preferred)
  • 7 - 10+ years’ experience in B2C e-commerce and/or digital marketing leadership roles with evident history of ROAS and MROI improvement
  • Strong strategic and analytic acumen
  • Demonstrated history of success as a leader of people
  • Paid Media and SEM experience coupled with a deep understanding or experience with other digital marketing channels / tools including Email, Retargeting, Programmatic Display, Affiliate/Partnership, SEO, Interactive, Mobile and Attribution Modeling
  • E-commerce experience (ideally both direct and 3rd party marketplace)

 

PREFERRED

  • B2C technology or tech-related experience (DM or e-commerce)
  • Prior P&L management responsibility
  • Previous experience building or integrating organizational DM and / or e-commerce capabilities
  • Experience in sales and sales team development / management
  • Knowledge of Amazon’s selling practices, guidelines and marketplaces (e.g. Seller Central and Vendor Central)
  • Experience working with Google Ads (aka Adwords) and Bing Ads
