Established in 1989, the Goering Center serves more than 400 member companies, making it North America’s largest university-based educational nonprofit center for family and private businesses. The Goering Center’s mission is to nurture and educate family and private businesses to drive a vibrant economy and promote effective continuity of those businesses. The Goering Center is affiliated with the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati, which provides access to a vast resource of business programming and expertise. Their member companies receive real-world insights to enlighten, strengthen and prolong family and private business success.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Director will partner with the President and Program Committee to set standards for program and institute quality and effectiveness. The Program Director will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on the future of the business industry through ongoing professional development.
  • Develop and update institutes and programs through curriculum design, titles, locations, times, other logistics, and learning environments.
  • Volunteer engagement: Works with the President to recruit volunteer family guides for the Next Generation Institute; leads both the Next Generation Institute Steering Committee and the Goering Center Program Committee.
  • Recruit content partners from the Goering Center community; negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and ensure content meets defined quality standards.
  • Develop and champion the Goering Center’s Speakers Bureau.
  • Master the Goering Center’s CRM, FunnelMaker, to optimize program execution.
  • Manage and collaborate with the Office/Operations Manager to document standard operating procedures relative to programming.
  • Lead the development of special events for volunteers and members, act as a member of the Special Events Committee, support execution of the annual Family & Private Business Awards.
  • Collaborate with the Goering Center’s marketing team regarding promotion methods and means, market research, surveys, publicity, and market analysis.
  • Monitor key benchmarks such as program attendance/cancellations, quality standards, finances and budgeting, financial analysis and annual forecasting.
  • Represent the Goering Center in the community at large.
  • Develop content for the President and other team members who are representing the Goering Center in the community.

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in relevant field of study
  • 5 – 10+ years in planning leadership and business-based learning and programming for organizational and career development
  • Proficient in MS Office (MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, in particular)
  • Familiarity with CRM system, FunnelMaker - a plus but not required
  • Able to demonstrate a strategic agility, anticipating future consequences and trends accurately using broad knowledge and perspective.
  • Demonstrate experience in program development, market research/needs assessment, staff management, finances and budgeting and data analysis
  • Able to scan the environment, analyze competition, and lead efforts to position Goering Center as a leader in family and private business education
  • Must be a self-starter able to produce accurate work and possess a high degree of organization
  • Team player in a small office environment
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
