CLIENT SUMMARY: 

Based in northern Cincinnati, our client has been in business for over 40 years and operates a state of the art 125,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. With their focus on customer service and quality standards, they have grown to provide a full scope of manufacturing services for the gas turbine and aerospace industries, servicing all the major turbine engine OEMs. Our client sets the industry standard by providing highly engineered, complex components and assemblies for aircraft engine, airframes and land based industrial gas turbines, and provides specialized machining, welding, brazing, and heat treat services.

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Project/Estimating Engineer is responsible for analyzing engineering design documents and/or prototypes and makes plans/decisions concerning required methods, processes, tools, jigs, and fixtures required to produce a product or perform any required operations. The Project/Estimating Engineer, along with others, must determine the estimated cost to produce the component or assembly and prepare the quote or delegates to others to be sent to customers and potential customers. This activity may be delegated to the appropriate person on an as-needed basis.  Must also create preliminary routings and specify materials required when known. Work requires the regular exercise of discretion and independent judgment.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow policies and procedures, including the use of proper PPE
  • Assist production control in re-quoting and routing and re-routing legacy components to ensure deliveries are met, which may include designing different manufacturing methods or utilizing different machining resources
  • Performs tooling layouts and concepts, including datum structures on intended machines
    • Complete quotes on projects that may require any or all the processing disciplines and the normal o/v items (i.e., shot peen, coating, brazing, etc.)
    • Complete estimates that consistently meet or exceed cost, schedule, quality, and customer specification requirements
    • Read and understand the blueprints and drawings of customer parts within the Estimating Manager’s responsibility
    • Additional project and program management and manufacturing engineering responsibilities. 

 

IDEAL CANDIDATES’ QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA from a four-year college or university and/or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in the aerospace or turbine industry preferred
  • Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Proficient utilizing computer graphics, MS Excel, and Project
  • Proficient in CAD to analyze customer models for identifying all features to be generated for the quote process
  • Strong Communication, Interpersonal and Leadership skills
  • Effective problem identification and solution skills
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
  • Ability to operate autonomously and self-direct
  • Ability to recognize and work additional hours to support projects that are behind schedule
