WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:  

The Mechanical Department Lead will lead a group of dynamic Mechanical and Senior Mechanical Engineers in the execution of client projects. Projects are in the chemical and pulp and paper industries. Projects range in size from the upgrade of a single piece of equipment to a complete new multi-faceted multi-phase process implementation.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the Mechanical Engineering group on projects driven throughout Jedson’s offices.   Designs can range from a conceptual level to detailed construction documents.
  • Provide leadership to the mechanical group to include resource coordination, technical and execution support, capability development, standards development, department vision, and mentorship. 
  • Drive our internal quality assurance process by reviewing and checking group work products to include drawings, calculations, specifications, and lists.
  • Support the proposal process by providing input to bid/no bid decisions, project estimates, and deliverables. 
  • Support the staffing process by networking, talent identification, and candidate evaluation. 
  • Support the development and growth of key client relationships.
  • Though primarily the group leader, this individual will also execute process designs within their specific area of specialty or expertise.  This work includes the research and analysis of data to make sound design decisions aligned with company, client, and project objectives. 
  • Apply theory in a practical context to determine feasibility of design, identify potential process upsets and malfunctions incorporating appropriate remediations, and apply commercially available technology for process execution.
  • Observe professional ethics, both in the application of codes and standards and personnel interactions.

 

YOUR IDEAL BACKGROUND:

  • 15 - 20+ years’ experience in industrial Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of  engineering consulting experience.   
  • Demonstrated Servant Leadership to include team building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written at all levels within and outside the organization. 
  • Proficient with forecasting, planning, scheduling, coordinating, conflict resolution, and conducting detailed phases of engineering projects to achieve milestones.
  • Experience developing and implementing standards and procedures, consistent with the continuous improvement of quality and productivity while managing overhead.
  • Experience interfacing with clients and supporting marketing and proposal generation efforts. 
  • Makes major mechanical design recommendations and decisions in collaboration with each project team. Plans design work by discipline for all project sizes.
