Mercy McAuley High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, is hiring a President to lead the organization to fulfill its mission and ensure continued growth and community engagement. The President will lead a talented and passionate leadership team and a total staff of 60 to serve over 500 students each academic year.

Mercy McAuley High School is an all-girls, Catholic, college-preparatory high school in Cincinnati, Ohio sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, and a member of the Mercy Education System of the Americas, with 49 schools throughout Argentina, Belize, Guam, Honduras, Jamaica, the Philippines, and the United States. 

Mercy McAuley's innovative academics focus on empowerment, personalized growth and experiential learning opportunities that prepare graduates for college. The curriculum is designed to support and challenge a wide range of academic abilities and interests. In addition, students are familiarized with the skills needed to succeed in life: critical thinking, creative problem solving, collaboration, communication, and compassion.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

The President is the spiritual and administrative leader of the school, responsible for the overall management of the school, including its development and growth as part of the Mercy Education System of the Americas.  The President reports to the school’s Board of Directors and directs a leadership team including the Principal, Director of Finance and Administration, Managing Director of Advancement, Director of Admissions, and the Director of Marketing.

The President plays a lead role in furthering the school’s mission, developing long-range strategic plans, and guiding enrollment growth through oversight of the leadership team, stewardship of the school’s financial resources, and building relationships with students and families, faculty and staff, alumnae, and members of the Greater Cincinnati community.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Administrative Leadership:

  • Implements the policy decisions of the Board of Directors and ensures that they reflect the mission of Mercy McAuley High School.
  • Hires, manages, and develops the leadership team of the school.
  • Provides leadership and works closely with the Program Committee of the Board and the Principal in the development of academic and co-curricular programs.
  • Serves as the school’s liaison to the Mercy Education System of the Americas and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
  • With the Principal and Campus Minister ensures that the charism and traditions of the Sisters of Mercy and the Catholic Identity are clearly articulated and carried out with all constituents.
  • Has ultimate responsibility for meeting or exceeding key metrics established by Board around enrollment, student and staff retention, academic success, and other important outcomes.

Mission and Culture:

  • Working with the Mission Committee of the Board, develops and cultivates a Catholic school culture that adheres to the mission of the school.
  • Demonstrates strategic and transparent leadership balanced with authenticity, respect for others, and trust building with all stakeholders, including students, co-workers, and the Board of Directors.
  • Is highly visible on campus and interacts with students comfortably and regularly.
  • Attends and supports school liturgies and prayer services, faculty/staff meetings, school assemblies, and weekend and evening events.

Public Relations and Development:

  • As the chief spokesperson, promotes the mission of the school internally and externally to the school’s various stakeholders, including parishes, alumnae, donors, civic and government leaders, and community members.
  • In conjunction with the Advancement Committee of the Board and the development team, engages donors, volunteers, and the community-at-large to support the mission and vision of the school to secure resources that will support the school’s long-term strategic needs.

Strategic Planning and Finances:

  • Works with the Board and staff to establish overall strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the school.
  • Works closely with the Director of Finance and Administration and the Finance Committee of the Board, maintaining oversight of financial operations, financial assets, and liabilities of the school.
  • Oversees development of the school’s annual budget and tracks progress against this budget to adapt to changing conditions.
  • In conjunction with the Plant and Grounds Committee of the Board, identifies and plans for future needs of the school around facilities, technology, maintenance, and improvements and submits recommendations to the Board.

Team Management & Development:

  • Oversees the leadership team, including the Director of Marketing, Managing Director of Development, Director of Finance and Administration, Director of Admissions, and the Principal, who oversees academic administration, curriculum & instruction.
  • Promotes a healthy, collaborative environment in which the leadership team, faculty and staff are driven by achievement of shared goals.
  • Supports the development and success of the leadership team and helps them achieve short and long-term professional goals.

 

THE KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the mission of Mercy McAuley High School.
  • Must be a practicing Catholic with a commitment to continuing faith formation and to the educational and religious values of the Sisters of Mercy.
  • Experience being the face of an organization with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Proven success managing and developing a senior team and providing day-to-day leadership.
  • Robust network in the Greater Cincinnati community or proven ability to develop such a network.
  • Demonstrated success leading a meaningful fundraising initiative.
  • Solid financial acumen with complete P&L responsibility.
  • Ability to identify key metrics and hold individuals and teams accountable for achieving goals.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including a proven ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Embraces diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and has demonstrated the ability to create an inclusive culture.
  • Experience working with Boards and engaging volunteers and donors to support a mission-driven organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education, Business Administration, or Nonprofit Administration preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of successful experience in executive management and leadership within the private, public, or nonprofit sectors, demonstrating progressively greater responsibility.
  • Relevant experience in secondary education a plus.
