What You’ll Be Doing:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will play a critical role in decision making and operations for the company.  The successful candidate will have a “hands-on” DNA and lead a (currently) small accounting team and payroll specialist.  More specifically, the Controller will:


  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly interim and annual financial reporting of each subsidiary unit and consolidated results 
  • Support M&A activity, especially integration
  • Assess accounting operations and systems to identify opportunities for efficiency and implement changes
  • Develop and communicate consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures
  • Evaluate and, as necessary, augment policies / procedures to maintain a strong internal control environment that minimizes financial and operational risk
  • Provide information necessary to support decision making
  • Coordinate timing and activity of external auditors
  • Oversee the payroll process
  • Provide dynamic leadership to her/his team - investing in their development, clearly communicating priorities and expectations, providing transparent and constructive feedback


 Ideal Candidate Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • Certified Public Accountant (active, inactive or underway) preferred
  • 4+ years public accounting or company experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant
  • Strong understanding of GAAP including consolidations and financial reporting
  • Preferred experience or knowledge: process improvement and/or systems conversion, QuickBooks and/or NetSuite, acquisition integration, team leadership and development
