Preferred locations include Toccoa, GA and locations within ~90 minutes of Toccoa:  Atlanta, Gainesville, Athens, Clemson, Greenville, etc.  Other locations open to discussion depending on candidate.

 

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client, Universal Maintenance, headquartered in Toccoa, GA, is a wholly owned and independently managed subsidiary of The Dupps Company.  Dupps is a growing and well-respected, 87-year-old, fifth generation, family-owned business.  Universal Maintenance was recently acquired by Dupps and likewise, was a well-respected, family-owned business serving the rendering industry. Universal Maintenance provides a wide variety of construction, installation, and maintenance related services, as well as equipment fabrication primarily for the rendering industry. Universal Maintenance is highly regarded by customers as an extension of their maintenance departments, often remaining on specific sites for months at a time to complete multiple projects or providing shorter term, quick turnaround maintenance and installation support. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (JOB SUMMARY)

Under broad direction from the General Manager and Project Manager, the Project Coordinator/ Manager will:

  • Support end-to-end project management & execution – scope, schedule and budget for projects ranging from $25,000 - $1.5MM
  • Travel frequently to assess customer needs, then develop the necessary information to estimate the project and staffing plan and prepare fixed price bids and T&M estimates. These initial site visits will be followed by frequent travel during project execution to ensure scope compliance and schedule control.
  • Develop strong, trusted relationships with employee crews & subcontractors as well as with the Universal Maintenance’s Plant, Maintenance and Operations Managers and their staff.
  • Comply with customer safety and operations requirements to ensure a safe work environment for all employees in working in harsh climates and uncontrolled temperature/humidity environments.  This role will work in rendering facilities and must be able to tolerate strong and unpleasant odors.

  

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Mechanical Aptitude / Skilled Trades Experience – Development of CAD drawings, use Project Management tools, illustrate an in-depth understanding of general construction management processes.  General understanding of best practices for millwright, welding, pipefitting, etc.  Ability to read construction drawings and blueprints, demonstration of good computer skills.
  • Combination of education (Associates or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Industrial Architecture, etc.) and/or work experience with 5+ years demonstrated success in a similar capacity in the rendering industry is preferred.  Other relevant heavy industry experience in the paper, oilfield, chemical & industrial construction industries will also be considered.
