WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Our client is looking for a Civil Engineer to join their Commercial Real Estate team. The work of the Civil Engineer is crucial for ensuring that projects undertaken are safe, functional and environmentally sustainable. This role is also crucial as a competitive advantage in winning new business for the Company by providing quicker, higher quality proposals to clients and prospects with unique ideas and expert ideas to enhance client projects.
Reporting to the Division President, your responsibilities will include work on a variety of projects including land only development, retail, commercial, industrial, etc.
Pre-Construction Phase
- Participate in initial development meetings with clients and serve as the subject matter expert in order to answer questions and provide information and recommendations regarding proposed development plans.
- Lead civil site evaluation for a variety of land/site development projects and clients. If needed, engage 3rd party engineers to assist with very large projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and site investigations to evaluate project worth and potential risks.
- Conduct research as it relates to products and costs related to possible projects.
- Analyze survey reports, maps and other data related to a project’s design and site selection.
- Analyze the strength of building materials and soil for foundations and other supports.
- Prepare cost estimates for equipment, materials, and labor to determine a project’s economic feasibility.
Development Project Responsibilities
- Plan and design site development projects, including grading, water/stormwater, utilities, and roads.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, and other contractors as needed.
- Facilitate the selection of the design team and approve all related plans.
- Develop and create detailed design plans and blueprints using computer aided design (CAD) software.
- Lead and collaborate with the Koetter team on drafting, reviewing, and finalizing site plans and construction documents.
- Prepare and submit permit applications and ensure projects comply with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
Construction Oversight and Quality Assurance
- Support construction services by preparing permit applications, estimates, and other key deliverables.
- Supervise the Construction of infrastructure to ensure projects are built according to plans and specifications, pad ready, and can be turned over to construction for vertical development.
- Monitor project progress, manage budgets and resources and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, architects and other professionals.
- Conduct site inspections and quality control to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Provide technical advice to construction teams to resolve any design or development issues that may arise during the building process.
Team Coordination and Leadership
- Sit in on client meetings from pre-construction through turn over to construction.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with clients and contractors.
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budgets to ensure client expectations are met and projects are on budget.
- Manage workload and coordination with internal team members to ensure work is progressing and projects are on schedule.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in project execution.
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) Certification
- 4+ years working on civil development projects for the private and/or public sector.
- Detailed knowledge of relevant national standards and codes of practice.
- Familiar with coordinating with clients, attending client meetings, and overseeing quality standards.
- Strong time management and the ability to meet tight deadlines with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to be proactive, analytical, and use critical and strategic thinking to solve complex problems.
