KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (JOB SUMMARY)

The Tax Manager is responsible for coordinating the tax compliance function for 200+ entities. Successful outcomes of this position include all tax returns accurately and timely filed including well-organized and supported workpapers, accurate and timely reporting of tax projections to investors, and a reputation for excellent customer service. The Tax Manager will also:

  • Coordinate the tax compliance function utilizing internal and third-party resources
  • Review the annual accounting of various LLCs as part of the tax preparation process
  • Review various tax returns including partnerships, trusts and individual returns
  • Prepare complex tax returns involving 704(c) allocations and multi-state filings
  • Prepare tax component of hold/sale analysis for real estate projects
  • Prepare taxable income projections/estimates
  • Supervise a tax accountant
  • Coordinate and lead annual tax training efforts to the accounting team
  • Work with the Family Office for estate/gift and income tax planning
  • Manage and lead special projects

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA or BS in accounting or a related field.
  • Must be a CPA.
  • Experience in the real estate industry preferred, but not required.
  • Advanced understanding related to the tax aspects of partnership agreements, contributions of appreciated property related to 704(c), 704(b) capital accounts, special allocations, and overall experience in dealing with Subchapter K – Partnership Taxation.
  • Understanding of pass-through entity taxation at various state and local levels.
  • Experience and understanding of individual income taxation as a result of partnership pass-through income.
  • Strong proficiency with tax research software packages and strong working knowledge of federal tax code and regulations.
  • At least 3+ years of public accounting experience in tax and total experience exceeding 5+ years.
