ABOUT THE COMPANY

Trammo Nitrogen Products North Bend Operation is a local producer of nitric acid for many industrial applications. We also supply anhydrous ammonia, aqua ammonia, and urea ammonium nitrate for a wide range of uses, including fertilizer. The facility has been in continuous operation since 1965 and currently employees 24 people. Products are moved in and out of the facility by barge, railcar, and truck.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING 

The Maintenance Engineer has three direct reports. This position will report directly to the Facility Manager and oversee the Maintenance Department and capital projects.

  • The Maintenance Engineer is accountable for providing engineering functions relative to maintaining and upgrading the facility, equipment, and processes.
  • Interact with the Production Team to ensure optimal performance and efficiency of maintenance activities.  Ensure solutions are based on sound engineering practices and in accordance with Lemm’s standards and all regulatory requirements.
  • Meet with peers and subordinates to set schedule plans for the week and check daily progress and resolve problems relating to or interfering with meeting maintenance schedules.
  • Direct emergency maintenance jobs, as assigned.
  • Review engineering specifications/drawings and propose design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of the assigned area, its equipment, and operations.
  • Administer group safety meetings and shop safety inspections.
  • Provide personnel training and monitor personnel performance.
  • Communicate and support management goals and objectives to all employees.
  • Prepare annual operating budgets, capital expenditure requests, and control budget cost.
  • Evaluate quality standards for area maintenance responsibility.
  • Analyze and assess methods of improving and reducing Maintenance operations costs.
  • Identify, plan, and manage projects that will optimize the productivity of the chemical plant. These activities must be accomplished while making sure that neither safety, nor the environment, is compromised.
  • Ensure that projects are completed in a cost-effective manner and on schedule. The equipment, functions, and methodologies are to be reviewed for potential improvements and upgrades in technology. Projects that address increasing efficiency and throughput must be carefully planned, approved, and managed while ensuring that all local, state, and federal guidelines are observed.
  • Project management responsibility associated with capital projects, including design, specifications, preparation, purchase requisitions, bid analysis, direct construction activities, participate in start-up, direct contract engineering services, cost control, schedule control and reporting. Project design and construction must be consistent with regular and generally accepted engineering principles (RAGAGEP) and with company reliability, safety, and environmental standards (both written and unwritten).
  • Initiate purchase orders for approved capital projects, select contractors, equipment, and materials; approve related invoices on purchase orders.
  • Plan, schedule, supervise/inspect and correct deficiencies for design and construction activities related to approved projects. Incumbent has authority to make minor changes to project designs and/or installations using sound engineering principles.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years industrial plant maintenance and/or reliability engineering experience
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of safe work practices (OSHA, PSM).
  • Must obtain a TWIC card
