Triversity Construction (Triversity) was founded in 2005 and has become one of the top ten largest commercial builders in the Cincinnati region and a leading corporate citizen. The “Tri” in the company name was derived from the acknowledgement of the three owners at the time. The “versity” was a signal that diversity was an inciting idea behind forming the company. They have come a long way since those humble yet inspiring beginnings. Company ownership and management changed in 2009 and since then they have continued to build a strong business foundation to support growth aspirations.

Triversity serves a broad range of commercial construction clients (small to Fortune 100) with a primary focus on Healthcare, Life Sciences, Corporate, and Urban/Community projects.  They serve construction clients who value relationships and who have high expectations for safety, quality, collaboration and overall performance. Today the organization has over 100 talented professionals. This position is on site in the Cincinnati office.

 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Director of Business Development is a strategic leader and proven relationship builder responsible for building, enhancing, and sustaining key relationships both within the organization and with external partners and clients. They will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO & ELT, acting as an ambassador who embodies, and role models the Triversity mission and values.

As the steward of the company’s brand and reputation, this role will develop and execute relationship-focused strategies that drive customer engagement, and strategic partnerships. This role is essential for aligning the organization’s relationship-building efforts with overall business objectives to optimize organizational effectiveness.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (JOB SUMMARY)

  • Direct, manage and be accountable for all business development (BD) efforts (strategy, including proposal generation process, interview preparation, support/coach extended team on BD efforts).
  • Establish and maintain the BD Department processes, ways of working, metrics and systems (business plan, budget, tech).
  • Conduct research and recommendations in line with company strategy on new accounts, market segments, geographies, etc.
  • Maintain existing customer relationships and execute strategies to expand the company client base. Engage with current clients and prospects finding opportunities, new solutions and future needs.
  • In partnership with Operations, build and maintain an approach to account management (how we maintain relationships, seek future opportunities, exceed expectations, gain feedback, etc.)
  • Build, maintain and nurture relationships with channel partners
  • Lead annual performance review process with clients
  • Develop and continually sharpen the BD skills of the team enabling them to cross sell and cross apply best practices from other accounts.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to create relationship strategies that support business development, client retention, and internal goals.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for key external partnerships, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
  • Build a broad base of relationships with business, civic leaders and decision makers.
  • Manage industry events, community sponsorships, and networking opportunities to strengthen brand recognition.
  • Develop and lead initiatives to strengthen relationships with clients, partners, employees, and key stakeholders to enhance the company’s influence and reach.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Masters/bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, or related field.
  • 10+ years in leadership roles with a focus on relationship management, customer success, and business development
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and enhancing relationships in a construction setting, with an emphasis on high-performance team culture and client satisfaction
  • Experience leading a department(s) and operating independently during change and ambiguity
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth and establish lasting client relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry trends, RFP/procurement processes, and project lifecycles
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills; able to develop actionable insights from information and data
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders
  • Positive outlook, hustle mentality with a strong focus on customer engagement and experience
  • Communicates effectively and candidly – has excellent verbal, written, listening & presentation skills
  • Coaches and develops others
  • Ability to affect and influence changes throughout the organization
  • Ability to develop presentation flow, content, and language
