Craftsman Electric serves a broad range of commercial construction clients including general contractors and offers premium commercial electrical repair, professional inspections, wiring upgrades, electrical installations, lighting replacement, surge protection, standby generator installation, and more. They employ licensed and certified electricians to ensure the highest quality craftsmanship, and they are continuously trained to stay up to date with the latest electrical codes and regulations to ensure the safety and compliance of electrical systems.
This position is on site in the Cincinnati office with travel as needed to customers and sites.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Craftsman Electric is seeking a Director of Business Development to architect and implement their first structured growth and customer engagement strategy. This role is ideal for someone who is strategic, ethical, and self-starting, ready to create the systems, processes, and relationships that will support their continued expansion including both the commercial construction as well as the service division. This role will report directly to the CEO and be part of the executive leadership team. You will develop new partnerships, design business development processes, and champion repeatable service revenue opportunities.
The Director of Business Development will also focus on the following areas:
- Strategy & Infrastructure
- Create, implement, and oversee a full-cycle business development strategy.
- Analyze current and potential partners and opportunities to ensure Craftsman is working with partners that align with their culture and understand their value proposition.
- Develop and launch CRM and sales funnel tools to manage lead generation and deal tracking.
- Develop and establish KPIs, metrics, and reporting frameworks in alignment with the leadership team.
- Relationship Development
- Strengthen relationships with preferred general contractors and identify new strategic partners (both contractors and direct clients).
- Conduct and lead prospecting efforts to deliver revenue goals, grow recurring service customers, stabilize demand volatility, and improve revenue forecasting.
- Execution & Collaboration
- Represent Craftsman Electric in industry events and with potential partners.
- Work closely with internal service and construction teams to qualify and deliver on new opportunities.
- Quarterback responses to RPS with Craftsman estimators, project manager, and the leadership team.
- Oversee marketing efforts aligned to BD goals.
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, or related field preferred but not required.
- 10+ years in business development, ideally in electrical contracting, construction, or facilities services.
- Proven record of successfully managing and enhancing relationships in a construction setting, with an emphasis on high-performance team culture and client satisfaction.
- Experience building systems and processes from the ground up including CRM selection, process design, and client targeting strategies.
- Proven ability to drive revenue growth and establish lasting client relationships.
- Strong knowledge of construction industry trends, RFP/procurement processes, and project lifecycles.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders.
