ABOUT THE COMPANY

Brixey & Meyer Capital (BMC), based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a private equity firm which currently owns five distinctly different but established portfolio companies.  The firm enjoys a pristine reputation and a proven history of successful acquisitions and other growth initiatives consistent with the strategy of each portfolio company. BMC has raised over $200M of committed capital and invested in nineteen companies since their inception in 2015. Investments are approached with a growth and partnership mindset, with BMC providing strategic and operational support as well as continued access to capital.

This newly created leadership role is located at the corporate office in Cincinnati, Ohio and onsite occasionally with periodic travel to portfolio companies. These locations will vary depending upon the firm’s portfolio.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (JOB SUMMARY)

BMC is seeking to add an HR Director to the Portfolio Management team to advise and assist portfolio companies in all aspects of HR functions including compensation, benefits, recruitment, employee engagement & retention, controls and oversight, learning and development, and new business onboarding.

This role will own the HR support within the broader Portfolio Management team which includes the President of BMC, Director of Portfolio Management, Senior Finance Officer, and Associate of Portfolio Management. The team supports portfolio companies in all aspects of business including strategy, finance, accounting, operations, and human resources. This role will report to the Director of Portfolio Management and will:

  • Consult, mentor, and assist portfolio company HR leadership in HR functions including:
    • HR Compliance and process improvement. Ensure compliance in all relevant areas and support development of appropriate handbooks and corporate policies.
    • Compensation plans and structures (including executive, salary, hourly, and sales plans)
    • Benefit plans
    • Payroll process improvements
    • Recruiting and workforce planning and strategy
    • Employee engagement and culture management
    • Employee development and training plans
    • Performance management
  • Oversee portfolio company HR Leads.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing the employee experience and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with the Director and President of Portfolio management to lead the hiring of portfolio company executives.
  • Participate in reviewing the HR functions of BMC target companies during the due diligence process and lead the HR function acquisition integration.
  • Manage the corporate HR function for the core BMC team members (mostly compliance related).

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 10+ years of HR leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience working for a PE firm or PE owned operating company
  • Experience collaborating directly with executive teams and stakeholders
  • Exceptional knowledge of change management and organizational development, employment laws, HR best practices, and industry trends.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to portfolio companies as needed
